teeth whitning Carlisle

Teeth whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth because of tea, coffee, smoking or other sources of surface stains respond best to our teeth whitening dental treatments in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. While many of our patients enjoy great results from this treatment, Dr. K. Randy Martin does not recommend whitening for everyone.

There are many different teeth whitening systems and products. At Smile Rite II, we use a tray-based teeth whitening system that can be bought directly at our counter. The whitening agent is then applied by the patient in the comfort of their own home. The tray-based system involves filling a mouth guard-like tray with a gel whitening solution that contains a peroxide-bleaching agent. The tray is worn for a specified time, varying according to patient and product.

How long do whitening effects last?
Teeth whitening is not permanent. If you expose your teeth to foods, beverages and habits that cause staining, you may see the whiteness start to fade in as little as one month. But depending on your habits and your oral health, the treatment and its results may much last longer before a touch-up is needed. It is important to mention that the degree of whitening will vary from individual to individual depending on the condition of the teeth and the pre-treatment level of staining.
